What are THCV and CBDV?
THCV and CBDV are some of the rare cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. They offer a unique range of potential benefits that differentiate them from other cannabis compounds like CBD and THC.
THCV and CBDV have been identified in the cannabis plant like other biologically active molecules like CBN, CBC, and CBG. However, they are minor cannabinoids typically found in small quantities in mature plants, making them challenging to extract and isolate.
Psychoactive Effects of THCV
THCV has an almost similar molecular structure to that of delta 9 THC. Although it does have psychoactive properties, it provides a different effect. THCV only produces a psychoactive effect in high doses. The high is stimulating and enhances mental clarity. However, it is fast-acting and quickly dissipates.
In the right quantities, it can be intoxicating to some people but not all individuals. The intoxicating qualities of the isolate depend on the different amounts you take, your body weight, your metabolism levels, and other factors.
Legality
THCV and CBDV are derived from federally legal hemp. As hemp-derived products, they are legal to purchase and use under the 2018 Farm Bill. However, check out the state laws in your governing state to determine this product’s legality before purchasing.
Hemp-derived THCV and CBDV means that these isolates are produced from federally legal hemp extract. The 2018 Farm Bill clarifies that hemp is a cannabis plant that contains only 0.3% or less delta 9 THC. Under federal law, hemp is legal for all purposes. Any cannabis plant that contains more than 0.3% delta 9 THC is not used to produce hemp-derived products.
Difference Between Delta 9 THC and CBD compared to THCV and CBDV
Delta 9 THC is a psychoactive cannabinoid that is illegal in many states. Although THCV produces psychoactive effects in high doses, most will find that it is only mildly psychoactive. It is considered legal in many states, according to the 2018 Farm Bill. Also, delta 9 THC causes the sudden urge to eat when the high kicks in. This urge is commonly referred to as “the munchies.” THCV/CBDV are often called the “diet weed” because getting high on it does not cause an uncontrollable urge to eat. Many report the effects of THCV and CBDV are stimulating.
Difference Between CBD and THCV/CBDV
Cannabidiol is a cannabinoid that does not cause any psychoactive effects the same way as delta 9 THC. THCV/CBDV, on the other hand, can cause a euphoric high when taken in high enough doses.
Is THCV/CBDV Safe?
There isn’t enough scientific evidence to show the long-term effects of the cannabinoid. Although it is considered safe to use, its sedative properties may cause you to feel a bit relaxed or tired after use. Hence, it is essential to avoid driving or operating heavy equipment when using a product that contains THCV or CBDV.
If you have any medical condition or are using prescription medications, it is crucial to talk to your healthcare professional before using any dietary supplement or cannabis product.

About Delta 8 THC
CBD and THC products are no longer the only cannabinoids in the cannabis market. Today, delta 8 THC is emerging as one of the promising active ingredients in many cannabis products. Its relaxing effects and mild euphoric high are now common knowledge to a lot of cannabis enthusiasts.
Delta 8 THC does not cause an anxious high like delta 9 THC. It produces a mellow, clear-headed high that is pleasant and comfortable even for new cannabis users. It is commonly available as an edible, tincture, or vaping product. It has psychoactive properties like marijuana but at an estimated half the potency.
The legal cannabis industry is pretty new. Hence, it is essential to buy quality hemp products from a licensed dispensary. The industry standard for quality control is through third-party lab reports. Our delta 8 THC products come from hemp extract derived from organic hemp plants. It does not contain any toxic chemicals, synthetic additives, or synthetic flavours.
Different of Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC
Delta 8 Tetrahydrocannabinol (Delta 8 THC) is one of more than a hundred cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. It closely resembles the chemical structure of delta 9 THC except in the way their atoms are arranged. While delta 8 has the double bond at the eight carbon chain, delta 9 THC has the double bond at the ninth carbon chain.
Although both are psychotropic, the minor difference in the double bond location makes a difference in their psychoactive effects. Hence, delta 8 has a milder and more mellow high. Although the high is less stimulating, it does not trigger anxiety or paranoia, which is often reported by some users in their consumption of delta 9 THC.
Production of Delta 8 Distillate
Delta 8 THC is not abundant in the hemp plant, even in full-spectrum hemp extract. Hence it was almost impossible to extract it from any hemp source. Through the improvement in extraction technologies, it can now be easily extracted from organic hemp grown for the legal cannabis industry.
You do not need marijuana to produce delta 8 THC. Scientists have found a method to convert hemp-derived CBD into delta 8 THC. The process proved challenging at first, but with constant practice, delta 8 THC can now be produced in significant amounts to make pure delta 8 distillate.
Effects of Delta 8 THC
Delta 8 THC is approximately half as potent as delta 9 THC. When taken in significant amounts, it produces a clear euphoric high. Most users report having no anxious feelings when reaching the psychoactive effect, unlike in delta 9 THC.
It is crucial to start with a low dose when taking delta 8 THC for the first time to assess your body’s tolerance to the compound. It is best to begin at 10mg and gradually increase the dose when necessary. Although there is no universal dosage for the cannabinoid, taking too much than what your body can tolerate may cause unwanted side effects.
There is no conclusive evidence of the medicinal properties of delta 8 THC because there is not enough scientific literature to form a definitive basis. Nevertheless, academic research is ongoing. For now, we can base the potential benefits only on a few preliminary studies and abundant anecdotal evidence.
About Delta 8 THC Tinctures
Delta 8 and CBD share some similarities. Both compounds are fat-soluble, which means that you need to mix them with a carrier oil to make them easier to consume or infuse in other products. The carrier oil can either be hemp seed oil, coconut oil, or MCT oil.
Methods of Consumption
Tinctures are primarily designed for sublingual administration. You use a dropper, fill it with a specific dose of delta 8, and place a few drops under your tongue. Let the tincture sit for at least a minute or two to allow the mucous membranes to absorb the cannabinoids. Ingest whatever is left.
You can add the tincture to your coffee or tea in the morning or add it to your favourite foods. You can use delta 8 tincture to make delta 8 gummies, edibles, and beverages.
It would be best if you didn’t use delta 8 tinctures or CBD tinctures for vaping. Please do not put it in an empty vape cart or tank for vaping. MCT oil is not suitable for vaping. For vapes, use the appropriate vape juice products.
How Long Will the Effects Kick in?
There is no clear-cut answer because there are different factors at play. However, when you take the tincture sublingually, the effects take effect for about 30 minutes or less. For normal oral ingestion expect anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours depending upon your metabolism and other factors. The duration and onset depend on the quality and potency of the product, your metabolism, your body weight, and your body’s chemical structure as well as other factors such as diet and exercise.
When you ingest delta 8 in edible form, it has to pass through the digestive system and get processed by the liver before entering the endocannabinoid system. Hence, you have to be more patient because it may take at least an hour or two for the effects to kick in.
After taking effect, it will last for at least two to eight hours. The duration of the effect depends on the potency of the product, the dosage, and your body’s reaction to the cannabinoid.
Delta 8 THC Dosage
There is no universal dosage for delta 8 THC because each person reacts to the cannabinoid differently. You should start with a low dosage of 10 mg if you want to experience its psychoactive effects. You can increase your dose gradually if you feel that the high is not sufficient.
Your dosage depends on factors such as your weight, age, sex, experience, and level of tolerance. If you have taken delta 9 THC before, your tolerance level for d8 is approximately twice that of delta 9. For example, if you can tolerate 20 mg of delta 9, you can theoretically tolerate 40 mg of delta 8.
Always start with a low dose and gradually increase the dosage as you feel fit. Do not introduce too much delta 8 into your system right away to avoid possible unpleasant side effects.
Made From Organically-grown Hemp
Our delta 8 distillate is derived from federally legal and organic hemp. Mature hemp flowers do not contain significant amounts of delta 8 THC. Hence, it cannot be extracted directly from the cannabis plant for commercial use. The best way to produce significant quantities of delta 8 THC is to convert it from CBD hemp extract through isomerization.
Based on federal law and many state laws, our delta 8 THC products are legal. Since it is derived from hemp plants that contain 0.3% or less THC, it is technically legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. Make sure to check your state laws to determine if delta 8 is not explicitly prohibited in your area.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Delta 8 Get You High?
Yes. Although delta 8 isn’t as potent as delta 9, it will give you a mild euphoric high. The good news is that you will less likely feel any paranoia or anxiety with d8. Take note that at the proper dosage, delta 8 will also produce the same effects as delta 9.
Will Delta 8 Appear on a Drug Test?
Yes. Most drug tests do not differentiate between cannabinoids. Hence, it is essential to abstain from delta 8 products at least a week or two before a scheduled drug test. Your body needs at least 7-14 days to clear up any cannabis metabolites in your system.
Can You Build Delta-8 Tolerance?
When you take any cannabinoid constantly for a prolonged period, your body can build a tolerance to it. It means that you have to take more of the cannabinoid to experience the same results you felt before.
To avoid tolerance, consume delta 8 tinctures in moderation. Use lower doses if you take them every day or take high doses at least once or twice a week. You can also reset your body’s tolerance by abstaining from d8 for at least a month.
Is Delta 8 Dangerous?
Preliminary research suggests that delta 8 is safe to consume. It is even safer than delta 9 because it does not cause paranoia or anxiety. As long as you do not take delta 8 in a higher dose that your body cannot tolerate, you will be fine.
However, some delta 8 products may be dangerous if they contain harmful chemicals. Therefore, it is essential to buy products that provide independent lab reports. Third-party lab tests are the industry standard for the safety and potency of cannabis products.
Keep in mind that the FDA does not regulate hemp products. The only way to determine if a delta 8 tincture is safe to use is through lab testing. You can find out if a product from our brand or other brands has quality ingredients through lab results.
Does Delta-8-THC Cause Side Effects?
Although it is less potent than delta 9, delta 8 may still cause adverse side effects in some people, especially when taken in large doses. Some of the negative effects of the cannabinoid include:
- Sedation or stimulation
- Dizziness
- Boost in appetite or supression of appetite
- dry mouth
- Impairment of motor functions
- Inability to concentrate
These side effects are less likely to occur if you take delta 8 in moderation. Also, start with a low dose and gradually increase the dose only when necessary. If any of the side effects get worse, call an ambulance or visit your doctor’s clinic.
Is Delta 8 THC Legal?
Delta 9 THC is legal in some states. However, that is not the case in other states. Hence, if you want to take cannabis for recreational use, you may try delta 8 THC.
Delta 8 THC is technically legal based on the 2018 Farm Bill. As long as the cannabinoid is sourced from legal hemp, which contains 0.3% THC or less, it is technically legal. Remember that delta 8 is derived from CBD, making it legal as well.
Nevertheless, some states expressly prohibit the use of delta 8 in their state laws. Hence, always check your local laws to find out if you can take delta 8 THC for recreational use or not.
